After recently deciding to upgrade to a new organic mattress and make it a King size! We realized we needed a good solid frame for the type of mattress we planned to purchase.

I haven’t had an actual bed frame that wasn’t just the metal frame you get from the mattress store since I was in college! We had previously built our own headboard from wood planks for our Queen Bed, but I knew that we wanted a solid base, because those metal frames have not treated me (or my back) well in recent years!

We made the decision to buy one of the bed frames below. These all fall into the style I was looking for, mid-century/Scandinavian and simple while also providing a good platform solid base for a latex mattress without a box frame.

CB2, DROMMEN ACACIA WOOD BED, $999 / DANIA, BOLIG BED $999 / IKEA BJÖRKSNÄS $599 / WEST ELM MID-CENTURY BED $1299 / HOME DEPOT, STYLEWELL BANWICK PLATFORM BED $229

My favorite bed out of this mix is the Dania Bolig Bed, which I’ve had my eye on for quite a white BUT I ended up choosing the Home Depot StyleWell Bed because it seemed like a steel! We’ve already got it in place in our bedroom (even though we still have our Queen Mattress on it – because we are impatient people) and I’m really enjoying it so far! It immediately helped create a sturdier feel for sleeping without that sag in the mattress that can sometimes happen without good support.

I really like the IKEA and CB2 beds as well, and I’m taking some inspiration from them and will be DIY’ing an upholstered headboard that will mount to the wall. Stay tuned as we should be receiving our new King Mattress this week! Then we can begin the headboard and styling of the room. I can’t wait to share more!
